Governor Scott Walker spent the day touring Wisconsin, talking about mining jobs. He spoke to employees at L & S Electric in Weston.
Wisconsin’s mining regulations are expected to be discussed when the legislature beings its session this month.
Walker says the mining bill is important to our state and will bring thousands of jobs to Wisconsin.
“We hope early in this session that both the Assembly and the Senate and members of both political parties can come forward to help pass safe and environmentally sound mining in the state,” Walker told Newsline 9.
There is opposition to the proposed mining law, some citing environmental concerns. The bill was voted down by one vote last year. But Walker says he’s confident it will pass with necessary changes.
