Just in time for the weekend, snowmobile trails in the southwest and southeast zone of Marathon County are now open.
The southeast trails opened Saturday morning.
Officials said it's important to ride with care as many of the trails are still in fair to poor condition.
Many snowmobilers said that's made it difficult to decide when to hit the trails.
"Our snow this year didn't have a lot of moisture to it, so the base is not very good, but the trails are open and I've got a hunch they're going to be open this weekend for sure, and we'll see what mother nature does," said Wisconsin Valley Snowjets President, Milton Schultz.
Some snowmobile trails in the northeast, southwest and southeast zones of Marathon County will open for ATV use on January 11th.
