Flu hospitalizations up sharply

The flu in Wisconsin has sent more than 1,300 people to the hospital, state health officials say.

One person has also died from the illness, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

These numbers are in stark contrast to last year when Wisconsin had less than 400 hospitalizations for the entire flu season.

Health experts say the flu vaccine is still the best way to avoid the flu along with other common-sense tips like washing your hands.
