Wisconsin Rapids suspect in custody for gun theft

A suspect is currently in custody for the theft of two guns in Wisconsin Rapids.

Police say detectives and tips from the public led them to the guns, which officers say were stolen from two vehicles in November.

According to the police department, the suspect is a 40-year-old person from Wisconsin Rapids. The police department has recommended charges of felony possession of a firearm, theft, bail jumping and criminal damage to property.

Officers say the suspect broke the windows of two vehicles and stole two shotguns and two riles, worth more than $2,500.

The guns have been returned to their owners.
