FOREST COUNTY (WAOW) -
The juveniles involved in creating a video depicting a school shooting will be punished, the Forest County district attorney said Friday.
Earlier this week, Forest County Sheriff John Dennee said officers received reports about a YouTube video over the weekend. Dennee said the video showed students being shot in front of the Crandon School.
The sheriff said a male juvenile was arrested and taken to the Forest County Jail. Officers searched his house but found no weapons or other evidence, Dennee said. No further evidence was found at the school either.
Now, Forest County District Attorney Charles Simono says more than one juvenile was involved.
"The juveniles, in addition to any punitive measures to be taken by the school system, will be held accountable through the juvenile court system" he said in a statement released late Friday afternoon.
Simono said there was no danger to students or the public. He said the video was simply made in "extremely poor taste."
The district attorney says authorities need help from the community to make them aware of potential threats.
