WAUSAU (WAOW) -
The 25th annual Badger State Games kicked off in Wausau. Athletes tied up their laces for bowling and took aim in archery today.
But organizers say it's about a lot more than just winning. For these athletes, it's also about the love of the sport. The Badger State Games give many people a chance to show their skills.
It also gets the Central Wisconsin community involved. That's something tourism officials say is key, especially at a young age.
"The Badger State Games are starting to re-generate and growing back up again," Richard Barrett, with the Wausau Visitors Bureau told Newsline 9.
"This is a pretty high level of archery and the competition is good. I like it," Tyler Pecha with the Cadott Archery team said.
The winter games continue through February.
