Turkey bowl benefits Humane Society of Marathon Co. - WAOW - Newsline 9, Wausau News, Weather, Sports

Dozens of teams took part in a turkey bowling event in Mosinee Saturday.

It was a fundraiser for the Humane Society of Marathon County organized by owners of Pat N' Chrissy's 153 Pub.

People tossed a frozen turkey down an ice lane to try and knock down as many pins as possible.

Money raised from the bowling and other raffle prizes will all go to the Humane Society.

Although the bowling had to be cut short due to warm temperatures that melted the lanes, organizers said it was a success.

"There were some phenomenal prizes that were donated this year from all area businesses, individuals, volunteers and the volunteers who have helped out doing everything. It's an incredible thing," Owner Chrissy Weinbauer said.

Weinbauer said the turkeys used at the event will be donated to the Humane Society, cooked and used to feed some of the more elderly rescues there.

She hoped to raise about $1,500 for the Humane Society of Marathon County.
