A wind chill advisory will be active for every county in Wisconsin from midnight Monday to noon on Tuesday afternoon.
The National Weather Service issues wind chill advisories when cold air and winds are expected to provide low wind chills for an extended period of time. Wind chill values could drop between -20 and -30, meaning frostbite can develop in less than a half hour to exposed skin.
Wind chill is a calculated value that combines the actual air temperature with the speed of the wind. The index provides a "feel-like" temperature, or the the value exposed skin senses when it is in the elements.
Temperatures on Monday and Tuesday are forecast to stay below 0, with overnight lows that are expected to be colder than -10. That combined with northwest winds at 10 to 15 mph could provide wind chill values between -20 and -30.
