The U.S. military's new rules will now allow women to serve in combat roles.
We went to a diner in Wausau and found overwhelming support for the idea.
Kitty Rau of Phillips told us, "At one time I would have said no. But now, women are everywhere. I thing it is good."
John Courtion of Wausau is a Vietnam war veteran who agrees, "I think women can be very formidable opponents in the army, marines and navy, whatever."
Still some people have voiced concerns about the plans.
Critics have said they fear physical tests for recruits could be watered down and that will put members of the military at risk.
Additionally, some have voiced concerns that women on the front lines might create sexual tensions which put fellow members of the military in harms way.
