STEVENS POINT (WAOW) - Two central Wisconsin based teams have something to cheer about. The Royalty Athletics Jr. Reign and Senior Supremacy cheer and dance teams brought home the hardware from a national competition in Indiana.
The two teams took part in the Jamfest National Super Cheer Competition in Indianapolis January 19 and 20.
According to Royalty Athletics Director LeAnna Pacyna, both teams took first place in their divisions. She says that 580 teams from 30 states took part in the competition.
The two teams are made up of 37 athletes ages 10 - 18 from Stevens Point, Wisconsin Rapids and Wausau.
Pacyna says that each team practices at least four and a half hours a week in addition to an hour of gymnastics training but when they are training for a national competition like Jamfest, they practice four days a week.
