WISCONSIN DELLS (WAOW) -

Zach and Mackenzie Leofilos from Port Edwards thought they were just in Wisconsin Dells for a cheerleading competition. Little did they know, they were also in for a huge surprise.

The two were called to the front of the stage after their team competed for a special announcement.

Their mother, Army Specialist April Davis, along with her boyfriend joined them on stage. Davis and Sergeant Kelly Spykerman had been in Afghanistan for a one-year deployment.

As you might guess, the children were very excited to see the two.

"It's nice that I can finally be back with my mom," Zach said after the surprise.

Davis worked with the team's coach and her family to make it all happen.

"It's good to be home," Spykerman said.

Davis and Spykerman will finish up the deployment process Sunday.

The children have been staying with their great aunt while their mother was away.
