STEVENS POINT (WAOW) -
Drew Darwitz scored the go-ahead goal for the Blu Golds as UW-Eau Claire defeated UW-Stevens Point Saturday night, 3-2.
Pointers junior forward Garrett Ladd scored as he dived in front of the net to give Point a 1-0 lead towards the end of the first period.
But in the second, Isaiah Bennis hit the back of the cage to tie the game. Then in the final minute of the period, Andrew McCabe launched a long-range shot that got past Pointers' goalie Nick Graves to give the Blu Golds a 2-1 lead.
Point would tie the game in the third off a goal from Sean Gammage, but UW-Eau Claire took the lead back when Drew Darwitz scored with 5:42 left in the game.
The Pointers are now 12-8-1 and will host UW-Superior on Friday, February 1.
