UPDATE: Weather causing crashes, slide-ins


Travel officials are asking drivers to stay off the roads, if possible, as snowy conditions are making road slick.

The Marathon County Highway Department has sent out more than 30 road crews to plow and salt area roads. Officials say the main concern is the possibility of freezing rain.

"If you have to drive, be safe," said Mark Raduechel, Marathon County Highway Department Supervisor.  "If you can, stay off the roads and let us do the work that needs to be done. "

Wood county sheriff's department says they've responded to about a half-dozen slide-ins. Officials say no injuries have been reported there.

The State Patrol says they are also out in full force this evening, responding to several crashes and slide-ins. There has not been any injuries.

Adams County Sheriff Department says that roads are slippery, but crews are out plowing the main roads. Back road have not yet been plowed.

Roads are dangerous in Lincoln County. The Lincoln County Sheriff Department says crews are spread through out the county working on clearing the roads.

The Portage County Sheriff Department is reporting slick roads as freezing rain continues to come down. They are seeing several accidents and slide ins.

The Vilas County Sheriff Department says roadways are snow covered and slippery, and they have seen multiple slide ins.
