LANGLADE COUNTY (WAOW) - Wisconsin Department of Transportation reported that WIS 47 was closed for about three hours in both directions between Neopit and the Langlade County line because of icy conditions.
Langlade County Sheriff Bill Greening says icy roads Tuesday morning caused at least three school buses to skid into ditches and a snowplow to overturn.
No injuries were reported.
Greening said a bus transporting Elcho students slid off County Highway B near Summit Lake and a second bus sent to the scene to haul the children to school also slipped into the ditch.
At about the same location, a township truck with a snowplow ended up in the ditch and tipped over, Greening said
A school bus in the White Lake School District was stuck on the side of the road momentarily because of the icy weather.
According to White Lake School Superintendent Bill Fisher, the bus got stuck on County Highway P around 9:30 Tuesday morning. Fisher says that there were three students on board at the time and everyone made it to
school safely.
Dozens of school districts in central Wisconsin delayed the start of school by two hours Tuesday or closed for the day.
