Another winter storm impacting parts of the region

Posted: Updated:

Another winter storm is impacting portions of Central Wisconsin with snow forecast to fall through much of Wednesday.

The National Weather Service has a winter storm warning active for Wood, Portage, Adams, Juneau, Jackson, Waupaca, Waushara and Shawano Counties until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

A winter weather advisory is active for Marathon, Lincoln, Langlade, Forest, Florence, Taylor and Clark Counties until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

A lake effect snow advisory will be active for Iron County from 6 a.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Friday.

The winter storm is forecast to bring accumulating snowfall to the region.  Current projections place the heaviest snow developing to the east and southeast of Marathon County.

A strong cold front will pull another wedge of Arctic air toward the state through Wednesday as temperatures will fall significantly throughout the day.  Winds are forecast to be strong out of the northwest.  That could lead to blowing and drifting snow on Wednesday afternoon and evening.

The impacts of the cold front's passage will be significant.  By Thursday, daytime high temperatures in Wausau are not expected to break the single digits.
