There has been a wide-range of weather throughout the state of Wisconsin in the past 48 hours. From snow to ice to dense fog, it's been tough on drivers and highway department crews.
But there was also a drastic warm-up on Tuesday that melted much of the snow accumulation.
Several different areas of the state dealt with changing conditions early in the week.
In Menominee County, transportation officials had to close a portion of WIS 47 due to dense fog and icy conditions.
"Wisconsin weather is always kind of abnormal anyway," said one driver.
Miles away in Wausau, road crews used a lot of salt to try and keep roads from getting too slick. A lot of the problem was a result of freezing rain in the area.
"It was very slippery and yeah, our trucks can slide off the road, too," one Marathon County Highway Department employee told Newsline 9.
In La Crosse, highway department officials were hard at work salting and sanding roads to try and prevent a messy commute for drivers in anticipation of snow.
Meanwhile in Madison, some places saw temperatures in the 50s on Tuesday. Some students wore shorts to campus while other people headed to a local driving range to play golf.
But forecasters say everything could change very soon as a new blast of winter weather is set to hit the state Wednesday.
