Wis. teen wants murder case sent to juvenile court

Posted:

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) -- A Sheboygan teenager accused in the killing of a 78-year-old woman wants his case moved to juvenile court.

The 14-year-old boy is charged as an adult and has not entered a plea yet. Defense attorneys argued Tuesday the boy would be better served in the juvenile justice system.

Defense witnesses testified the boy is less likely to get the psychological treatment he needs in an adult prison. Prosecutors will make their arguments Wednesday.

The boy and a 14-year-old friend are accused of bludgeoning the friend's great-grandmother, Barbara Olson, to death at her Sheboygan Falls home Sept. 17. Both boys were 13 at the time.

The friend has allowed his case to remain in adult court and has pleaded not guilty by mental disease or defect.
