More than 50 area children visited dentists--thanks to a program called Give Kids a Smile. It is a nationwide effort by the American Dental Association to ensure that all children receive care.
Staff members from the Cherry Tree Dental Clinics in Weston and Wausau provided the free dental care on Friday, February 1, 2013. Dr. Jan Bublik told Newsline 9, "It is very important that children see a dentist. They need to have good care. It builds their self-esteem and also helps avoid dental and other health problems. When they see a dentist at a young age, they learn not to be afraid."
Cherry Tree estimates free dental services program offered through its clinics in Wisconsin, provides $1.2 million in care for people who might otherwise go without seeing a dentist.
