WAUSAU (WAOW) -
In just a few days downtown Wausau will transform into a Winter Wonderland.
The second annual Winterfest is on track to make its way to Wausau's River District.
"It was really well received by the community last year, even though we had nine degree weather we still had so many people come out," Kari Rasmussen, Director of Wausau Area Events said.
From ice skating, to ice loges, organizers say this year's event is bigger and better.
"It really is downtown opening up their door, opening up their businesses, but not just for sales, for craft projects and things like that," Rasmussen said.
Businesses like La Prima Deli are taking part in Winterfest for the first time by offering a story hour.
"It gets people out and active in the winter and having fun together," Jodi Vanberkel from La Prima Deli said.
Also on tap, Wausau's first Winter Brewfest.
"We sold out 250 tickets in a little less than 24 hours and it features the three local breweries and two distributors," Rasmussen said.
But, if the breweries, and ice skating aren't enough, there's always mini golf.
"It's time to do something a little bit on the crazy side," Tom Rau, Executive Director of The Neighbors Place said.
The Neighbors Place is once again putting on the Ice Tee Classic, hoping people come out and try their luck at golf in the snow.
"We wanted to make sure that there was an activity that even the families that come and use the neighbors place could participate in," Rau explained.
So, with a calendar full of fun organizers say this year's Winterfest will be one for the books.
