The Warriors had a five-point lead in the first quarter with a Jasmine Shinz lay-up. But Wausau West fell to Eau Claire Memorial on the road, 45-41.
In boys' swimming, both division 1 and 2 sectional meets took place at Hudson and Stevens Point respectively.
In division 1, the SPASH relay team won by seven hundredths of a second over Chippewa Falls/McDonell Central in the 200 yard medley relay. The win means that Ryan Neigbauer, Joel Harris, Ben Harris and Kevin Slezak will compete in next weekend's state championships in Madison.
Wausau East's Garrett Richetto finished third in the boys' 200 yard freestyle while Willie Rosenthal of SPASH won third place in the boys' 50 yard freestyle.
Joel Harris placed second in the 500 yard freestyle race, finishing nine hundredths of a second behind Caleb Miller from Logan/Central.
Wausau East's Mitch Straub won the boys' 100 yard backstroke with a time of 53.15.
And the Wausau East 400 yard freestyle relay team placed third in the event.
Lakeland had some success at the Division 2 sectionals meet. Nick Garcia earned a spot at the state championships with a win in both the 100- and 200-yard freestyle races.
