ONEIDA COUNTY (WAOW) - A house fire in Oneida County has left a husband and a wife dead.
Autopsies positively identified the victims as Mark and Kaye Juel of Harshaw. Crews found their bodies Tuesday, after the fire destroyed their home about 20 miles west of Rhinelander.
Kaye Juel worked in the Oneida County Jail for more than 30 years and as the Jail Administrator for 20 years.
Investigators say they worked closely with Kaye on numerous occasions and she will be greatly missed.
"If there's a memory that I cherish it is sitting in this room and letting her talk about her grand kids and the time she got to spend with them," Lt. Lloyd Gauthier said. "She was well-known, respected and loved by all of us. This is a difficult time."
The cause of the fire is not yet know. The investigation has been turned over the to state's Fire Marshall.
