Pans were sizzling as busy chefs worked their magic in the kitchen at Nicolet College in Rhinelander.
"We've been going strong since 8 o'clock this morning, ready to serve food at 11," said Student Chef, John Emmer.
From decorations to the menu, the Valentine's Day meal was a vision student chef Stephanie Kaether couldn't wait to bring to life.
"Lots of different foods, lots of different techniques and flavors," said Kaether.
She said the gourmet meal was all an inspiration from a trip she took to Italy.
"Saint Valentine is actually from Italy and the whole tradition started there," said Kaether.
The menu kept student chefs working in the kitchen, sauteing vegetables and putting the finishing touches on dessert.
"People want chocolate and italian buffet on Valentine's Day, doesn't get much better than that," said Emmer.
Instructors said every part of the dinner gives these students the experience they need to be successful, and the money they raise helps keep the program going.
"They go for other classes so that we can run baking classes and other classes and this class as well," said Culinary Arts Instructor, Vicki Mendham.
15 student chefs made everything from upside down cake to pasta, all for their special Valentine's Day meal.
"Every region has it's own story, it's own way of preparing food, it's own flavors," said Kaether.
People in line said they hardest part about waiting is trying to decide what to get next.
"I'm waiting anxiously to get to the desserts," said Harlan Larson of Rhinelander.
A meal these students hope will make Valentine's Day a little sweeter.
