WAUSAU (WAOW) - A Wausau woman said she's thankful for the help of firefighters. Firefighters were called to help get her bird, Kiki, down from a tree Thursday.
Firefighters extended their ladder truck in an effort to capture the exotic bird but she flew to three different trees before they could finally catch her with a net.
Friday, the woman said she's keeping a closer eye on Kiki and her front door. She said she's just thankful that her pet bird is safe and sound.
"It was just so sweet of them, they just went above and beyond the call of duty, they really did. They didn't have to do that. I said, well at least it's a little bit different than the cat up the tree," said Bunny Wojtuik.
As a thank you, the woman said she plans to cook each of the firefighters an Italian dish.
