Curling teams compete in the state championships in Wausau
WAUSAU (WAOW) -
24 high school curling teams competed in Wausau Saturday for the State Championships.
It all took place at the new Wausau Curling Center. The event brought hundreds of spectators and competitors to watch the action on the ice.
Organizers said it's an exciting tradition many students look forward to each year.
"Every time we get together to see the sportsmanship and respect that people have for each other and that's one of the things that curling is about, it's a gentlemen's sport," said Wausau West Curling Coach Jim Wendling.
Both boys and girls teams competed in the event from area high schools, including Wausau, Portage and Waupaca.
