MEDFORD (WAOW) - Medford Police Chief Ken Coyer says the weekend fire that destroyed a downtown convenience store was started by the 34-year-old man who operated the business.
David J. Johnson, 210 North 4th Street, Medford, was arrested Monday on suspicion of felony arson, Coyer said Tuesday.
Coyer said a police officer noticed smoke coming from Main Street Convenience Store at about 6:30 a.m. Saturday during a routine patrol.
No one was injured in the blaze, but two
nearby stores, Feet in Motion and Silence is Nothing, received smoke or water damage, the police chief said
Coyer said Johnson, whose birthday is Wednesday, was being held in the Taylor County Jail.
