WAUSAU (WAOW) -
February is American Heart Month, and Tuesday, the United Way hosted an event in Wausau focusing on heart disease awareness and prevention.
The Heart Truth for Women is a national campaign.
This local event aimed to help both women and men understand heart disease, risk factors and how to take action on their own behalf for heart health.
"The more people can know and understand about issues that are so important to their well-being and overall health, people can then take action to live a healthier, active and more productive lifestyle," said Tony Omernik, United Way RSVP director.
A nurse was also available to provide free blood pressure checks and to answer any questions.
