The Wausau Region Chamber of Commerce released the second annual Economic Outlook at the Jefferson Stree Inn on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. It is a survey of area business leaders on the state of the economy in 2012 and what they expect in 2013.
This survey shows businesses reported 2012 to be a challenge. Many business leaders gross sales numbers fell and profits were flat if not the same as 2011.
Chamber President and CEO, Jeff Zriny says that along with the closing several major employers in the area can be blamed for leaving business owners a bit cautious. Zriny says, "That pessimism has tainted their outlook on what the coming year will bring.
The report shows many business owners hope to see economic conditions improve but they are not expecting it to happen quickly.
