Fire destroys rural Adams home; no one hurt

ADAMS COUNTY (WAOW) - The Adams County Sheriff's Department says fire destroyed a rural Adams home Friday. No one was hurt but the family's pet dog died in the blaze.

The fire occurred at a home about five miles south of Adams, and the cause was listed as a chimney fire, Sheriff Sam Wollin said in a statement.

The sheriff says the family who lived at the house was not home when the fire was reported.

The blaze closed portions of state Highway 13 for several hours.
