BAYFIELD (WAOW) - The state Department of Natural Resources says a 26-year-old Indiana man was killed in a snowmobile crash in northern Wisconsin.
Charles Mulder of Munster, Ind., was killed Sunday afternoon when he failed to negotiate a curve while driving his snowmobile on a road open to snowmobile traffic in the Town of Barnes in Bayfield County, investigators said. The snowmobile crashed into some woods.
DNR safety administrator Gary Eddy says speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.
As of Monday, the DNR reports 16 people have been killed in snowmobile crashes this winter.
