WAUSAU (WAOW) -
The husband of a missing DC Everest graduate is now behind bars, as the search for her continues.
St. Paul police say Kira Trevino husband was arrested on suspicion of homicide. Police say 30-year-old Kira Trevino was last seen on Friday. The former Wausau area resident works at the Mall of America in Minnesota.
When she went missing, friends of Trevino say they were shocked.
Stoltz says she's been friends with Trevino since they were in the 6th grade. She says they're practically sisters. "We are extremely close."
Newsline 9 sat down with Stoltz before the arrest of Kira Trevino's husband. She says all the uncertainty hasn't been easy to handle.
"I think that's the worst part, because you have so many thoughts, you just don't know. You wish you had answers, it's just a nightmare that goes over and over," Stoltz told Newsline 9.
Investigators say evidence of a crime was found at the home of Trevino and her husband. They say that was enough to arrest him.
"I can't go into exactly what that evidence was, but obviously and certainly, it was enough for us to make that conclusion and put somebody into custody on that suspicion," St. Paul Police Department Spokesman Howie Padilla said.
St. Paul police confirm Kira Trevino has not been found. They say that's what the investigation is focused on moving forward.
"In a perfect world, we'll be able to find Kira alive, we'll be able to determine everything that happened," Padilla said.
"I just want us to find her, I just want to find her," Stoltz said.
Friends say Trevino is an incredible woman.
"She is the most bubbly person, funny, down to earth, just a sweetheart," Stoltz said.
Friends say they just hope Kira Trevino comes home safe.
