MADISON (WAOW) - The Wisconsin Natural Resources Board has appointed five members to a new 12-member Sporting Heritage Council, which was created to advise the governor, outdoor recreation leaders and the Legislature on fishing, hunting and trapping issues.
The council will focus mostly on recruitment, retention and increasing access to resources and outdoor opportunities.
The Natural Resources Board appointees and their areas of expertise are: Ralph Fritsch of Townsend, deer; Mark LaBarbera of Hazel Green, game birds; Benjamin Gruber, fishing; Andy Pantzlaff of Maribel, bears; and Scott Zimmerman of Reeseville, furbearers.
Others on the council include the DNR secretary, one member appointed by the governor, two members appointed by the state Assembly, two members appointed by the state Senate and one member appointed by the Wisconsin Conservation Congress executive committee.
