Wausau West wins team wrestling state title

MADISON (WAOW) -

The evening got off to a fast start with a 16-1 technical fall from individual state champ Colin Baine.

Immediately followed by state runner-up Joe Umlauf winning his match by an 11-3 major decision.

Travis Hettinga pinned his opponent once again, giving West an 18-4 edge and giving him an outstanding three pins in three matches for the weekend.

Kaukauna clawed it's way back and heading into the final match, the Warriors only had a four point cushion, leaving it up to Hunter Cool.

The only way Kaukauna could win was by major decision or pin fall. And as cool as a cucumber, Cool held off a 2013 individual state runner-up, only allowing 5 points and securing the Warriors first state title since 2008 and Troy Fabry's first career state title as head coach.
