Members and supporters of the Newman/Marawood Nordic Ski Team held a fundraiser at 9 Mile Forest Sunday. The event, Taste of the Trails, offered cross-country skiing and snowshoeing passes along with some delicious food.
Proceeds will help the team enter competitions and purchase gear.
Team members said the goal of the event was not only to raise money, but help people appreciate the beautiful trails at 9 Mile Recreation Area.
"You come here and you're just out in the middle of nowhere. You're in the woods, skiing and having a good time, getting exercise and it's just so beautiful," team member and Merrill High School student Andrew Koch said.
The co-op Nordic ski team is open to students in Marathon, Lincoln and Taylor counties.
