Emotional day in Adams Co. court after fatal shooting

ADAMS COUNTY (WAOW) -

It was an emotional morning for the families of 28-year-old Coleman Dybul and his girlfriend 27-year-old Toni Voss.

Both families were in the Adams County courtroom as Dybul appeared before a judge. This comes just days after Adams County Sheriff's officials said he shot Voss and killed her.

"At some point in the night, she got out of bed, when she returned to bed, she startled Coleman and that's when he shot her," said Adams County Sheriff, Sam Wollin.

Adams County Sheriff's officials said Dybul said he used a shotgun kept by his bed.

"To have somebody lose their life over something like this, it's certainly shocking to the community," said Wollin.

Officials said Dybul served in the Marines from 2003 to 2007 and neighbors said he kept to himself.

Although investigators are no longer at the home where the shooting took place, the Adams County Sheriff said the investigation is still ongoing.

"There's still some background information that needs to be collected, follow up information that needs to be collected, again, and as far as contacting friends and family members, some of the neighbors, as far as if there's any other circumstances that's surrounding this incident," said Wollin.

Coleman Dybul's bond was set at $250,000 dollars. The Adams County District Attorney says they plan to charge Dybul next week.

Dybul is scheduled to appear in court again on March 11.

Both families requested that Dybul have visitation rights for the funeral. Visitation is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
