UPDATE: Second body recovered in Red Cedar River

Dunn County authorities have recovered the body of the second victim in an early Tuesday morning crash.

The medical examiner says the body of 26-year-old Mohammed O. Malin, the passenger of the semi-truck, was recovered from the Red Cedar River.

The State Patrol Wednesday identified the two Minnesota men killed when their semi slid off Interstate 94, down an embankment and into the Red Cedar River near Menomonie. The body of the driver, 25-year-old Batrodin Siyad, was found in the cab of the tractor. Both men were from Minneapolis.

The patrol says the owner of the semi is Dashman's Transport of Lansing, Mich.

Some lanes along I-94 may be restricted Wednesday as a recovery team works at the crash site.

The State Patrol says a body believed to be the driver of a semi has been recovered from a river in western Wisconsin, but a second possible victim remains missing.

The patrol says the semi has been removed from the Red Cedar River near Menomonie and eastbound Interstate 94 has reopened. The patrol says the semi was traveling west on the snow-covered interstate Tuesday morning when it slipped off the road, went down an embankment and plunged into the river.

Authorities say the search for a passenger is based on information from the trucking company that two people were in the semi. The truck is based in Lansing, Mich. The search was suspended until Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred as a slow-moving winter storm moved through western Wisconsin.
