WISCONSIN RAPIDS (WAOW) - A Stevens Point man pleaded no contest Tuesday to two misdemeanors after being arrested nearly a year ago and accused of sexually assaulting a woman.
Brian King, 35, was convicted in Wood County Circuit Court of battery and disorderly conduct after prosecutors amended the criminal complaint and dropped five felonies, including two counts of second-degree sexual assault and one count of false imprisonment.
Last April, King had been accused of forcing a woman to have sex with him in Marshfield.
According to online court records, King paid $1,262 in fines and other costs.
Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Constable said additional evidence "disclosed to me by the defense" caused her to drop the felony charges. She declined to elaborate.
