STEVENS POINT (WAOW) - An administrator at St. Peter's Middle School in Stevens Point says a seventh-grade boy collapsed and died in school on Tuesday morning. Administrator Todd Kuckkahn said Wednesday that no circumstances surrounding the death of Joey Miller were being released other than he died in school. St. Peter's is a Roman Catholic school. "We are shocked and saddened," Kuckkahn said. "We trust that God in his infinite wisdom will walk with us in our grief."More >>

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The state Senate has passed one of Gov. Scott Walker's proposals to bolster funding for workforce training while also creating a new database to better match job seekers with spots available.

The proposal passed on a unanimous vote Tuesday. It also easily cleared the Assembly on a bipartisan 94-4 vote last week.

The measure would make $15 million available for job training grants over the next two years.

Public and private organizations that provide matching funds would be eligible for grants, which could be used to train both new and current employees.

The state Department of Workforce Development would oversee the grants and also create the new database to help fill jobs in high-demand areas.

The bill now heads to Walker for his consideration.
