WAUSAU (WAOW) - The trial for a 20-year-old Wausau woman accused of torturing, poisoning and killing her boyfriend's dog and then writing about it in her diary is set to start May 1.

The trial for Sean Janas is scheduled for two days, according to online court records.

Janas has pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of animal abuse involving her boyfriend's dog, Mary, a four-year-old Labrador-shepherd mix. The dog died last June.

Prosecutors say Janas kept a diary about systematically torturing the dog and about her "intense hatred" for it.

Among the allegations against Janas is she poured Drano and bleach down the dog's throat and stabbed it with a knife, according to the criminal complaint.

In another development Wednesday, court records show Janas has a new attorney, public defender Lou Ann Bohn.
