Canadian Paper Sculptor visits Wausau

A Canadian paper sculptor visited Wausau to share his delicate and beautiful art.

Calvin Nicholls demonstrated how he creates his intricately cut paper sculptures of animals.

Nicholls uses only X-ACTO knives, toothpicks dabbed in glue and paper to create anything from a cheetah to a gorilla.

He spoke at the Woodson Art Museum about his artistic process and inspiration with the DC Everest Art Club.

"I haven't had that many opportunities to present this art form to the public," Nicholls said, "having a chance to work with the children and students means that there's an opportunity to think of paper as not just a medium that receivess pigment, by it's a medium in itself."
