Wisconsin DNR asks community for feedback on deer hunt

Saturday, the Department of Natural Resources held its first meeting for community input on the upcoming deer hunting season.

The meeting brought together dozens of people including DNR officials, hunters and landowners to U.W. Stevens Point.

DNR officials said they're focusing on topics including the Deer Management Assistance Program and ways to stop the spread of Chronic Wasting Disease.

They said the best way to make the hunting season better is by working together.

"We hope to have a broad spectrum of folks that are interested in deer, whether they're deer hunters, or are affected by deer in some way, shape or form, so we want to have a broad cross-section of folks helping us with this," said Tom Hauge.

DNR officials said they plan to hold another session in April.
