People speak out about Wausau School Board race controversy

WAUSAU (WAOW) -

People in Wausau had a chance to speak Monday about a controversy surrounding the school board race.

You may remember, the only challenger to three sitting board members recently complained.

This, after he said he was the only candidate not to receive questions for a forum ahead of time.

Monday, dozens of people filled the district's school board meeting to speak on the issue. Most people who commented, supported the board.

But, at least one person said the situation wasn't appropriate.

"Those actions were not ethical and I don't think anybody can argue that they were and I think that raises serious questions about what we're trying to teach our kids and what our board is really trying to accomplish, other than keeping the status quo," said Wausau resident, A.J. Gordon.

"I think the board faces challenges all the time and I think they've handled the situation well right now, and their best efforts are to work together like they always do what's best for the Wausau School District students," said Wausau resident, Christy Powell.

The Wausau School Board election is coming up April 2nd.
