The final week of high school basketball is upon us. And the girls' basketball team from Neillsville is no stranger to the state tournament.
The warriors are back at this stage after a 37-25 victory over Ladysmith in the sectional final, notching Neillsville's 54th straight win.
Number 55 could come against East Troy on Friday in the state semifinals.
The Warriors have tasted success before winning the Division 4 crown last year. And Neillsville head coach John Gaier hopes that experience can lead to title number two, this time in Division 3.
"You know they've gone down and stayed and slept in other beds and they've had to prepare, kind of on the fly with a one day rest or after no day rest between games, so they know what that's like," Gaier said.
"But they also know what the feeling is like to be down there and the feeling you get when you get to go on the big floor and play at a state tournament and I think that is a real benefit as far as experience goes."
