Students put firefighting skills to use in Weston

WESTON (WAOW) -

Firefighting students fought flames at a home in Weston Saturday morning.

33 Northcentral Technical College students took part in a live fire exercise, by fighting a real fire in a real home.

Don't be alarmed if you saw flames, it was just a drill.

Educators said it gives students the opportunity to experience the dangers and use their skills in real time.

"The crackling, the ceilings dropping, the ventilation, you know a wide range of experience out of this," said NTC Fire and EMS Education Director, Doug Jennings.

Educators said students get to participate in live burns about four to six times a year.
