Gena Grundhoffer scored 10 points and Mary Sigler added 9 as Wisconsin Rapids Assumption beat Barneveld 39-35 in the WIAA Division 5 state championship game at Resch Center.
It is the first WIAA state title for Assumption. The game was a rematch of a regular-season game in January where the Royals took down Barneveld, 44-41.
Assumption (28-1) trailed 5-4 early before going on a 14-2 run. Barneveld, which was held scoreless for a seven-minute stretch, had nine first-half turnovers and was down 24-13 at halftime.
The Vikings (27-2) scored the first seven points of the final quarter to tie the game at 31 with 3:13 remaining. But Grundhoffer responded with six points to put her team up for good.
Barneveld's Rachel Slaney scored a game-high 12 points.
