Catholic leaders in our area said the arrival of Pope Francis is an exciting time for the church.
Pastors said now that a new pope is leading the church, there is an opportunity for growth.
Meantime, leaders at St. Mark Catholic Parish in Rothschild said they're focused on spreading the word and traditions of Catholicism and are excited about this transition.
"They respect what he seems to be about and his presentation and public appearance seem to indicate that he's moving in a more humble direction, not that Benedict was not humble, but there's a different aura that's being presented," said St. Mark Catholic Parish, Father Allan Slowiak.
Leaders at St. Mark said the pews were full for the Sunday morning services.
