Winter is not letting go this week. You will feel the worst of it for today and tomorrow before we see more sunshine and lighter winds later this week. Overall, the weather pattern is not looking very Spring-like, however, temperature should be more tolerable and a little closer to normal by this weekend.
For today, be careful on the roads. Even though the light snow showers and flurries will be ending, the gusty west-northwest wind will continue in the 20 to 30 mph range and gust up to 35 mph at times. This will cause some blowing and drifting of the snow and some slippery spots on the roadways. Because of the gusty wind, the National Weather Service has extended the WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY through 10am this morning for Marathon, Iron, Ashland, Price, Taylor, Clark, Wood, Portage, Jackson, Juneau, Adams, Waushara, Waupaca, and Shawano counties. This afternoon will be windy and cold with high temps in the 20 to 25 range. If we are lucky, we should see a few breaks of sunshine develop later today as well. The weather will still be breezy and cold on Wednesday and we will have mostly cloudy skies develop once again. High temps will only reach the upper teens to around 20 and there will be some scattered light snow showers. We won't be breaking any records but temps will be about 20 degrees below normal!
On Thursday we should see mostly sunny skies developing and much lighter winds. With high temps in the mid 20s, it will feel much nicer. The warm-up continues on Friday with sunny to partly cloudy skies and high temps around 30. Saturday should be dry with partly sunny skies and high temps in the low to mid 30s.
From Sunday through next Tuesday we will see another significant storm move through the central part of the country. Right now it looks like it will track well to our south, so I am only calling for a light chance of light snow, mainly in the far southern part of the viewing area. For mostly locations right now, it looks like we will have partly or mostly cloudy skies and high temps in the mid 30s from Sunday through next Tuesday.
