For Fallone, Supreme Court bid faces long odds

Posted:
MADISON (AP) -

Ed Fallone knows that history is against him as he looks to knock off Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Pat Roggensack.

In fact, a sitting state Supreme Court justice has been defeated only five times in the past 161 years.

To do it in the April 2 election, the Marquette University law school professor will have to overcome a 34-point margin that separated him and Roggensack in the February primary. The winner gets a 10-year term.

Fallone has argued that Roggensack is part of a dysfunctional Supreme Court and needs to be removed.

Roggensack says her 17 years' experience as a judge separates her from Fallone, who has no such experience.
