It's a waiting game at Central Wisconsin Airport. In just days, CWA will find out if it will lose its control tower.
"We're hoping that congress does something to fund all the towers," said James Olson, Director of Operations and Maintenance. "Or, that maybe the FAA can look at some other areas to take the money that they're losing out to keep some of the towers open."
On Wednesday, airport officials at CWA sent a letter to the Federal Aviation Administration.
They pleaded with the agency to save their tower from budget cuts that recently went into effect.
"We made a good case and if they really look at it for its merits I believe we stand a very good chance," said Olson
Administrators are facing a similar fate in Janesville. Airport officials at the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport say the entire control tower staff could lose their jobs.
Back at CWA, officials wait for news. They say if CWA loses its control tower, Minneapolis would take over operations. But flights will continue.
"We're not losing any airlines...the airport is not closing," said Olson. "We are going to remain open and we are going to remain operational basically as we are right now."
CWA officials should find out if they're losing the tower on Friday.
