Walker wants Wis. officer's name added to memorial

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Gov. Scott Walker has joined those calling for a slain Wisconsin police officer to be included in a national memorial.

Walker sent a letter Thursday to the chairman and CEO of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. He asked the group to list the name of Wauwatosa Police Officer Jennifer Sebena on its Washington, D.C., memorial.

In his letter, Walker says Sebena was protecting the citizens of Wauwatosa when she was ambushed Dec. 24. The governor noted Sebena was patrolling the neighborhood where he lives with his family.

Sebena's husband, Benjamin Sebena, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in her death. He's pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

Walker says it shouldn't matter who committed the murder, "since the act was taken against a police officer on duty."
