A new report by the Wisconsin Realtors Association shows existing homes sales are up in the state.
The February numbers showed 3,638 homes sold in 2013 compared with 3,224 in 2012. The report says the greatest growth took place in the central part of the state.
Local realtors say the winter season remained strong for them and they are expecting continued success in the future.
"We have been steadily busy, evening during the holidays we were showing homes and people were putting in offers on houses," said realtor Rob Rybarczyk.
As the existing housing market shrinks, new home construction is likely to see signs of new life.
Builder Stan Budleski told Newsline 9 the past few years have been challenging, but he remains busy. He is in the process of closing on one home he recently built and has another new home on the market.
Economic experts have kept a close eye on the housing recovery which they say is key to overall economic recovery from the recession.
